on Buck Mountain...

After the nor'easter blew itself out on top of Buck Mountain, LOGJAM ventured up to the Rouse's knoll where Richard and Larry had been cutting and piling logs through the winter. We set up our equipment with the the windmill whirring overhead and began sawing a small mountain of red oak, ash and cherry logs they had recovered from fallen trees. The pastures were just beginning to green up, the weather for the first couple of days was beautifully clear and springlike but winter was not quite done yet...

Mostly our two Dons handled the Lucas Mill nearly all week in spite of cold winds.  The pile of Rouse logs had grown since Rick and I had inspected it last year. Larry Hamm, Richard's go to guy, operated the tractor and forks, making our job much easier. The LOGJAM boys are quite fond of hydraulics. Thank you, Larry.
